Has it really been that long since the last blog? Well there are lots of things happening at SpazmanSpins such as prepping for another season as the official Game Day DJ/music Director for the Rochester RazorSharks professional basketball team. I have always been a huge mark for hoops, and being able to sit at the Scorer's Table courtside, alongside the peeps who are the driving forces behind the RazorSharks organization is both an honor and a blessing. There is only one view that is better than the one I get on game day, and that is as a player in the game. I also get to do another thing that i pour my heart into and that is playing music for the masses. Music adds to the overall experience of an event, and i am proud to say that there is only one DJ that can say that they are the RazorSharks DJ, and that is me. Getting to know owner Orest Hrywnak, the coaches, the players, and the fans has been exciting, fun, and entertaining. The RazorSharks open their season at home on New Year's Eve at the Blue Cross Arena with Tip Off slated for 7:05PM. Not only will SpazmanSpins be playing music inside the arena, but Mrs. Spazman will be outside in the front lobby getting fans juices flowing with music and other stuff before the game.
The Wedding Season has winded down, but the holiday season is in full swing with Christmas parties, and plans for ringing in the New Year. The Summer kept us busy at SpazmanSpins with every weekend being booked.
SpazmanSpins has been doing Pub Trivia at the Victor Village Inn on every third Wednesday of the month, and it has been a blast. Ask just about anyone who has been part of a team and you will get the same answer..."it was awesome". Pub Trivia is popular and lots of fun as it challenges your brain while you hang with friends, eat some great pub food, and listen to some great music. I love the MC aspect of Pub Trivia as I have always been adept at working a microphone, and the chance to play music while challenging patron's brains is a great time, and it almost feels like I am stealing Rick's money when he pays me for something that I would almost do for free (now don't get any ideas). Talks are underway for bringing us in as a regular DJ to spin some tunes and oversee general mayhem and merriment for a few dates over the Winter. VVi will be the place to be. Next time you are driving through Victor, stop in at the VVI and tell them that Spazman sent you!
Speaking of Trivia, we are now offering Team Trivia to organizations as a way to raise funds and awareness for their causes. For every $5 that an organization raises, they keep $4! Teams will be made up of 1-2-3 people who pay the organization a small fee (we recommend $5) to compete and vie for prizes. There will be 6-7 rounds of questions, with each round having 10 questions. Each correct answer is worth a point. Each round will payoff a prize to the team with most correct answers. A Grande Prize will be awarded to the team with the most points at the end of the game. Trivia questions can range from a theme, or general knowledge, or history, sports, etcetera. There will also be rounds such as name-that-song where teams have to identify song clips, or tv clips, or picture recognition, the possibilities are endless! So if you are with an organization, or know of one that is looking for fundraiser ideas, tell them about SpazmanSpins Team Trivia!
I would like to take this chance to thank Julie of the Buffalo JCC for making SpazmanSpins their DJ for the Summer, and for several other JCC events. DJing at the JCC has opened the doors to service the event needs of several JCC clients, and for that we are very grateful. Besides that, Julie is good peeps and it has been our pleasure working with her so far. We hope to continue our association with Julie and the Buffalo JCC into the future!
While I thoroughly enjoy my work, and every event that we service, I must say that the Halloween Reception that I recently gigged was the most fun that I have had at an event in a long time. Michael and Diane got married at the Roger Robach Center (a great view of Lake Ontario right out the back door) in a Halloween-themed ceremony, and just about every guest in attendance was costumed in one way or another. It was outta sight and Dynomite. My outfit was supposed to be that of a beach-going bum, but ended up looking more like a tourist trying to find the bathroom...LOLOLOL.
Our Facebook is active and lively if you want to check it out. Go to your FB search, type in Spazman, waddle through the posers and you will find both my personal page, and my DJ page. I was Spazman before being Spazman was cool. Go ahead and send a friend request and beam aboard The Crazy Train.
With Thanksgiving just around the corner I would like to share my grattitude for family, true friends, the ability and desire to do the things that I love, clients, associates, the young men and women whom I coach, our military for their service to their country, my parents, their parents, music, God, and every breath that I am blessed with.
